As the days on Iceland came to an end, we felt incredibly fortunate to have experienced the wonders of
Iceland. The breathtaking landscapes, delicious cuisine, and warm hospitality
of the Icelandic people, making it a
truly unforgettable day on this extraordinary island.
Departing Iceland, our course now has an element of
south for the first time since leaving the Elling Shipyard in Aalst,
Netherlands on the 4th of July. We’ve travelled over 1,200nm at sea and on this
leg we will cross the halfway home mark.
With luck, we will find a route through the sea ice off the east coast of Greenland sometime Sunday and make landfall into Prince Christian Sound. The alternative is a 250 mile diversion around the bottom of Greenland.
We’ve also had a crew change - sadly, work pressure forced the Selendy family to return home. We are now joined by my longtime friend and shipmate, Bill Roche.
Best to all following our journey!
